Old Union Elementary First Grade

Join us for the Old Union Family Picnic this Friday, the 12^th!  (5:00-7:00)  You can bring your own food, or there will be options for purchase!

Here is the encore schedule.  Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on PE days.  Fridays will be a rotation that includes PE along with music or art.

This week in language arts, we will…

·       Continue writing about personal experiences during writing workshop

·       Use letter sounds as we write new words

·       Learn how to use the classroom library appropriately

·       Choose books that are “just right”

·       Read with partners

·       practice the procedures in our reading workshop

·       Practice sorting words that will get us ready for the spelling program (rhyming)

This week in math, we will…

·       Show numbers to 120 as hundreds, tens and ones

·       Play “cross out”

·       Play domino war

·       Write numbers in expanded form

·       Be introduced to math stations

·       Create a graph based on the number of letters in our name

·       “Math about Me”- a fun activity using math concepts to describe ourselves

In Social Studies, we will learn about community helpers and authority figures.  We’ll also learn about goods and services.
