The Week of November 9th...

In Language Arts we will....

• reread our stories and write them so others can read them
• work with writing partners to peer edit stories
• edit stories for spelling
• check for correct punctuation in our stories
• recognize new vocabulary in our reading
• look for characters in our reading
• pay attention to details about characters we are reading about
• reread to learn more about our characters
• read for meaning by questioning things in our stories
• use our one breath boxes to work on fluency with sight words
• recognize patterns in our spelling sorts

In Math we will...

• model putting numbers together/joining
• understanding what happens to numbers when a zero is added
• work on adding numbers in any order
• put together numbers to reach the sum of 10
• show different ways to compose the number 10

In Science we will...

• record weather information including relative temperature using appropriate vocabulary including but not limited to hot, cold, clear, cloudy, calm, windy, rainy, icy, etc.
• Discuss patterns we see in weather

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Book Fair is next week! Preview will take place on Monday. You may start purchasing items beginning Tuesday afternoon. If you are planning on shopping with your child, please try to do it before or after school, or during our recess time.
2. Can your child tie his/her shoes? Now is the time to really reinforce that at home! Try taking a large shoe and putting it in your child's lap. Sit behind them and model how to do it. Your First Grade teachers thank you!
