Week of October 6
We are so excited about our upcoming author visit!  Jeff Mack will be here Oct. 9.
Our first spelling test will be this THURSDAY.  Homework is due that day as well.  Please refer to the note that your teacher sent.  2 written homework assignments will be due.  For the test, 10 words will be called.  Each word is worth 2 points- one for the correct category, one for the correct spelling.  A bonus word will be called out as well.  It will be a word that fits the pattern, but was not on the list originally.
*** This Friday is our first Dragon Day!  On this day, the children will go to different encore classes and also have different lunch schedules.  Please do not plan on coming for lunch, as you’ll probably miss your kiddo’s lunch time.  Thanks!

Here is the encore schedule.  Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on PE days.  Fridays will be a rotation that includes PE along with music or art.

This week in language arts, we will…
·       Continue to focus on “small moments”, rather than long stories with many events
·       Continue to discuss multiple reading strategies
·       Discover new vocabulary through a weekly read aloud
·       Sort our spelling words and discover the patterns

This week in math, we will…
·       Match numerals to number words
·       Compare and order numbers up to 20
·       Compare with “greater than and less than”
·       Solve problems of the day independently, then as a class
·       Participate in our math stations

In Science, we’ll finish our matter unit!
