Week of Dec. 16

HOLIDAY PARTIES!  Friday at 2:00  Everyone’s invited!

As a special treat, first graders will have...

Monday- shoes off!
Tuesday- PJ and stuffed animal day
Wednesday- Hat day and game day
Thursday- show and tell
Friday- eat lunch with another first grader at any table

After this week, we'll see you again on Tuesday, January 7.  (Monday is a teacher work day.)

In Language Arts this week, we will…
·        Choose a piece to publish
·        Revise
·        Fix up our writing
·        Predict
·        Review contractions
·        Sort words to learn word patterns and help our spelling
·        Build our vocabulary with a weekly read-aloud.

In Math, we will…
·        Play Christmas math games
·        Graph
·        Create a gingerbread glyph
·        Continue to solve our problems of the day.  We use “CUBES” strategies.  (Circle the numbers, Underline key words, Box the question, Ex out extra information, and Show our work)
·        Visit our math stations. Each station will have a math activity that reinforces concepts that we are currently learning or have previously learned. Your child will also be able to visit “First in Math” at some point this week.

In Social Studies, we will learn about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. We’ll also learn about fables.
