Week of Nov. 4
Our first field trip is Feb. 25.  We’ll be seeing a production of “Aesop’s Fables” in Ft. Worth.  Please refer to the letter that your teacher sent you.  Return the permission slip along with payment by Nov. 8.

The Super Science Sale will take place from Monday, December 2 – Friday, December 6, which is the week after Thanksgiving break. The hours are as follows:

Monday: 7: 30 am – 3:30 pm
Tuesday: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesday: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Thursday: 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
Friday: 7:30 am – 2:00 pm

Don’t forget a healthy snack for your child. Please, NO chips, cookies or nut products…

In Language Arts this week, we will…
·        Retell stories
·        Identify the setting
·        review reading strategies
·        Write focused narratives
·        Try to begin and end a new story in one writing session
·        Use different resources to spell words correctly
·        Sort words to learn word patterns and help our spelling
·        Build our vocabulary with a weekly read-aloud. We will be introduced to 3 new words.  All week, we’ll keep track of when we use them in our writing, speaking, or see them in our reading.  The new words will be posted so that we will have a reference for future use.
·        Read word family poems to reinforce the patterns that many words have
In Math, we will…
·        Find patterns in numbers by identifying even and odd numbers
·        Compare numbers
·        Show numbers with tallies
·        Continue to solve our problems of the day.  We use “CUBES” strategies.  (Circle the numbers, Underline key words, Box the question, Ex out extra information, and Show our work)
·        Visit our math stations. Each station will have a math activity that reinforces concepts that we are currently learning or have previously learned. Your child will also be able to visit “First in Math” at some point this week.

In Science, we will learn about the seasons.
