The Week of March 28th

This week in Language Arts, we will…
·      Edit and revise for publication
·      Celebrate our stories
·      Continue working on our retell
·      Discover new vocabulary through a weekly read aloud
·      Categorize words to learn spelling patterns
·      Practice using proper capitalization and punctuation on existing writing.
·      Work on iStation while in computer lab.  

This week in Math, we will…
·      Separate shapes into four equal shares
·      Create kite fractions
·      Solve problems of the day independently, then as a class
·      Participate in our math stations
·      Work on Reflex Math while in computer lab

This week in Science, we will...
·      Learn about heat, light, and sound


Additional Announcements
1.     Report cards will be available today, Thursday, March 24th through Skyward Family Access. Your child’s report card will be available in Skyward Family Access under the Portfolio Tab. If you have any questions regarding grades, please don’t hesitate to ask! Below is a quick reminder of our grading standards:
3 = Mastered Expectation (child consistently demonstrates mastery independently)
2 = Making Progress (where most students fall, mastery fluctuates within different experiences)
1 = Below Grade Level Expectations

3.    Tuesday, March 29th: CLOSED CAMPUS DUE TO STAAR TESTING
SPECIAL NOTE: due to STAAR testing, we will have a closed campus. This means that we request that you reschedule any volunteering or lunch with your child. In addition, recess will be in the field across the bridge. Students are welcome to bring any field type play equipment such as soccer balls, footballs, jump ropes, etc.

  • Work with 3 dimensional figures (deconstruct and construct)
  • Begin our fraction unit
  • Solve problems of the independently, then as a class
  • Participate in math stations
  • Work on Reflex Math and Think Central in the computer lab

This week in Science, we will...
  • Begin identifying the various forms of energy

This week in Social Studies, we will...
  • Learn about and create our own timelines
  • Create our own calendar
