Week of March 19th
OUES Supports Mrs. Gilmore
Third grade classes at Old Union are implementing a fundraiser to help offset medical expenses for our teacher, Mrs. Cassie Gilmore. Wristbands will go on sale beginning Tuesday, March 20th, so be on the lookout for order forms coming home on Monday. The wristbands are white for lung cancer, with Faith, Hope, Love and Mrs. Gilmore written in green. They will be available in adult and youth sizes, so order for your entire family. We’re asking for a minimum donation of $5 per bracelet. ALL PROCEEDS will go directly to Mrs. Gilmore. Cash or check will be accepted, and checks need to be written directly to Mrs. Gilmore. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000, so be sure to watch our progress as we track it daily in the café.
First grade field trip is coming soon! We’re going to the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History on April 20th. We’ll enjoy exhibits and the IMAX movie about coral reefs. Please return forms and payment to your child’s teacher by March 20. We are looking forward to it! Many thanks to PTO for providing our bus transportation!
From the Music Teacher…
Save the Date!
3 Piggy Opera
April 26 – 6:00 pm &
April 27 – 8:45 am
First Grade students are currently preparing for their performance
“3 Piggy Opera.” Please mark your calendars for this wonderful event! The performance will include songs, acting and narration.
This project is a combined effort with the First Grade teachers as
well as the Encore teachers. Students will experience crosscurricular learning in art, music and library.
VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
We need parents too! Volunteers will be needed to assist with the
stage decoration (creating a backdrop and decorating the pig houses) as well as hanging art work and other projects to make the performance run smoothly. Please e-mail Mrs. McArthur (angelia.mcarthur@southlakecarroll.edu) if you are available.
Thanks so much for your assistance and support!
