The Week of February 29th...

This week in Language Arts we will...

  • Continue to read other author's books to discover writing patterns
  • Determine the author's purpose
  • Discover new vocabulary through a weekly read aloud
  • Categorize words to learn spelling patterns
  • Practice using proper capitalization and punctuation in existing writing
  • Work on Istation in the computer lab

This week in Math we will...
  • Finish our unit on Money, specifically strategies to use when adding
  • Begin our geometry unit
  • Play games to reinforce the concept of money
  • Solve problems of the day independently, then as a class
  • Work on Reflex Math in the computer lab

This week in Science we will...
  • Learn about animal life cycles

  • Continue our study on money and the best strategies to count it
  • Add money
  • Play games to reinforce the concept of money
  • Solve problems independently, then as a class
  • Participate in Math stations
  • Work on Reflex Math and Think Central in the lab
This week in Social Studies we will...
  • learn about Texas and its symbols
  • Discuss the meaning and importance behind the Pledge of Allegiance

  1. Don't forget that you have a three day holiday! No school for kids on Monday, February 15!

  3. Remember during cooler temperatures to send your child to school with appropriate outerwear. Even when it's sunny outside, the wind chill can make recess very uncomfortable without a jacket! Thank you!

Don’t forget about our First Grade Compassionate Service Project!
We will collecting items for the Woodridge Nursing & Rehabilitation home in Grapevine during NEXT week: Feb. 8 – 12th. Suggested items needed are:  throw blankets, stuffed animals, new or gently used books, lotions, lip balm, word finds, puzzles, soft socks, or boxes of tissue. Thank you in advance for helping our recipients feel loved and remembered! Attached is a copy of the flyer that we have posted around our campus! 


Please join us for our PTO meeting next Tuesday February 9th at 9am in the OUES library.  We have two guest speakers that you will not want to miss!


o   Dr. David Faltys, Carroll ISD Superintendent, will be speaking about the capital needs of the school district and how the Capital Needs Planning Committee will be addressing those needs.

o   Laura Grosskopf, Executive Director of the Carroll Education Foundation (CEF), will be speaking about how CEF helps to fund important items for our schools.


Our class Valentine Party is next Friday, February 12th from 2:00 – 2:45 pm


Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outerwear during cold temperatures. We WILL go outside if the temperature is 40 degrees or above.
