The Week of December 14th...

This week in Language Arts, we will…
·       Choose a piece to publish
·       Fix up and celebrate our writing
·       Predict while reading
·       Create questions before, during, and after a story
·       Discover new vocabulary through a weekly read aloud
·       Be able to recognize the root words that create contrations
·       Work on IStation while in computer lab.  

This week in Math, we will…
·       Play games to reinforce addition
·       Solve problems of the day independently, then as a class
·       Participate in our math stations
·       Work on Reflex Mathwhile in computer lab

This week in Social Studies, we will…
·       Continue our study on different cultures and celebrations

This week in Science, we will…
·       Continue our study on weather
·       Differentiate between the characteristics of seasons

Additional Announcements!
1. Please make sure your child has a snack everyday.
2. Don't forget tennis shoes on PE days!
3. When cooler temps are present, a jacket is always a great idea!
4. Your child was tested on First Grade High Frequency Words this week. He/she should be able to read and spell the following: all, as, be, but, by, for, had, have, he, his, not, on, or, this, to, what

Week of December 7th ...

This week in Language Arts we will ...

- visualize while reading
- predict the end of stories
- ask questions before, during and after our reading
- continue writing small moments
- discover new vocabulary through a weekly read aloud
- sort our spelling words and discover patterns
- work on iStation (we encourage this at home as well!)

This week in Math we will...

- skip count
- review adding strategies
- solve problems of the day independently, then as a class
- participate in math stations
- work on Reflex Math while in the lab to increase automaticity


This week in Social Studies we will...

- learn about different cultures and costumes celebrated during winter months
