Week of June 3rd
End of the Year Ice Cream party!  Wednesday, June 5th at 10:00.  Everyone’s invited!

Mon. and Tues.- full days
Wed., June 5th- 11:00 dismissal  LAST DAY!!!

Mrs. Embry’s 3rd grade class is collecting gently used school supplies. They’ll be donated to schools in Honduras.  The children greatly appreciate anything!

Report Cards will be mailed.

Have an awesome summer!  We’ll miss you!

·      Aug. 26-30- 11:00 Dismissal (Teachers assess students in the afternoons.)
·      Sept. 12- Curriculum Night 6:15-7:15
·      Sept. 20- Family Picnic- OUES playground 4-6

Week of May 27
No School May 27. Enjoy your Memorial Day!
In Language Arts this week, we will…
·       Continue to write small moments
·       Remember to use periods
·       Use our best handwriting
·       Connect meanings of fables to our own personal experiences
·       Read word family poems to reinforce the patterns that many words have
·       With our “Daily Language Review”, we will edit/correct sentences and explore many language arts concepts
In Math, we will…
·       Continue to count money
·       Learn about probability
·       Problem solve using SSM, SWA, and BSD plans
·      Participate in our math stations! 
In Science, we will review magnets.

Week of May 20
This year Talent Days will be May 20-23 (date has changed). Each class will have their own Talent Day during their normal music time. The entire grade level will meet in the gym to be a part of the audience each day. After the performances are over, Art, Music and PE classes will resume.
This Friday is Field Day at Dragon Stadium!  Don’t forget to wear your field day shirt or a lime green one.  Also, pack a lunch if you didn’t turn in the lunch order form. ***Turn in your 6 individual snacks by Wednesday.
This will be the LAST week of spelling!
In Language Arts this week, we will…
·       Study stories written be other authors to gather ideas
·       Write new pieces and revise as we go
·       Revise with writing partners
·       Compare and contrast fairy tales
·       Sort words according to spelling patterns
·       Read word family poems to reinforce the patterns that many words have
·       With our “Daily Language Review”, we will edit/correct sentences and explore many language arts concepts
In Math, we will…
·       Count pennies, nickels and dimes
·       Count mixed sets of coins
·       Count quarters up to one dollar
·       Problem solve using SSM, SWA, and BSD plans
·      Participate in our math stations! 
In Social Studies, we will continue goods and services.

Week of May 13
Make sure you turn in your input regarding your child’s class placement for next year by Friday, May 17th.

·       Add dialogue to our stories
·       Revise by taking away parts of the story
·       Compare and contrast fairy tales
·       Sort words according to spelling patterns
·       Read word family poems to reinforce the patterns that many words have
·       With our “Daily Language Review”, we will edit/correct sentences and explore many language arts concepts
In Math, we will…
·       Practice telling time
·       Begin our money unit
·       Problem solve using SSM, SWA, and BSD plans
·      Participate in our math stations! 
In Science, we’ll learn about energy!

Week of May 6
The Family Night will be held May 8th at McDonald's on Kimball.  First Grade Teachers will be there from 4:00 to 5:00. Come join us if you can!

·       Tell time to the half hour using an analog clock
·       Read digital clocks and create the time on hand-held analog clocks
·       Order events according to the time they take
·       Create a timeline and practice telling time with a partner
·       Problem solve using SSM, SWA, and BSD plans
·      Participate in our math stations! 
In Social Studies, we will learn about wants, needs, goods and services.
