This week…

In Math, we will:

·        Choose strategies to solve problems

·        Add vertically and horizontally

·        Celebrate 100^th day with math activities

·        Write addition sentences for sums of 1-12

·        continue to problem-solve daily with our “Problem of the Day”

·       enjoy our “BUILD” math stations…

In Language Arts, we will:

·        begin our “Authors as Mentors” unit

·        make meaningful connections that help us understand stories

·        make text-to-text connections

·        read word family poems and discuss the rhyming words

·        practice capitalization and punctuation within paragraphs

Science- We will be learning about the changes in the sky. (sun, moon, stars)

·        Find sums by adding zero

·        Add using counters

·        Use ten frames and counters to model sums

·        Write number sentences

·        continue to problem-solve daily with our “Problem of the Day”

·       enjoy our “BUILD” math stations…

In Language Arts, we will:

·        Continue our “All About” books

·        make meaningful connections that help us understand stories

·        work on staying focused while we are reading

·        read word family poems and discuss the rhyming words

·        practice capitalization and punctuation within paragraphs

·        learn about adjectives

Social Studies- We will be learning about our family history.  After creating our family trees and timelines, we will enjoy sharing!

Week of January 16th  

This is the last week we will be working on high frequency writing words. These are words that first graders need to spell correctly while writing… A copy of “Spelling Tic Tac Toe” and the list has been sent home.Don’t forget to turn in homework on or before Friday.  Thank you!

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming soon!  The schedules will also be sent home the week of the 9^th for planning purposes.
